Why timing matters more in Northland

Northland's wedding season runs hot and fast; most couples are saying "I do" somewhere between November and April, with December through February taking the lion's share of dates. That's the same window every holidaymaker, boat owner and Bay of Islands local is also booking up for.

Add in that Northland has a small pool of hire companies compared to the big cities, and popular items simply don't sit around waiting for you to make up your mind.

The good news? A little forward planning means you get exactly what you want, not whatever's left over.

12+ months out: lock in the crowd favourites

If your date falls in peak season, this is when to enquire. These are also the items couples are most precious about, because they're the ones capturing memories you can't recreate. 6–9 months out: sort your lawn games

Once the big-ticket memory-makers are sorted, turn your attention to entertainment. 3–6 months out: round out the details

With the headline acts booked, this is when to fill in the rest of the picture:
